Institute of Health Research

The Institute of Health Research was established by Royal Decree in Chulalongkorn
University on May 16,1974. It was recognized at that time that research
in the field of health is an essential factor in Thailand's development
as well as being important for academic advancement. The Institute of Health
Research was thus established in Chulalongkorn University so as to facilitate
studies and research in the field of health. |

The Institute operates independently and conducts multidisciplinary research.
It is also a centre of collaboration, both for outside agencies and the
university's other academic branches involved in health research. This
liaison role is vital in order to promote research into the problems encountered
in Thailand and other countries within Southeast Asia. The Institute also
organizes training sessions and seminars and provides instruction on research
methods to lecturers, graduate students and researchers from the University
and to personnel from other related foreign and local agencies. It also
offers advice and |
provides
academic services in planning and research operations, data collection, and
computer analysis of data. It also takes an active role in dissemination of
research findings and current research procedures to related government
agencies and the general public
The Institute has a Board of Director which is responsible for setting
the principal guidelines within the University's overall policy and approves
operational plans for each section and follows up on the Institute's overall
progress. The administration committee which comprises the director of
the institute as president, the deputy director, the heads of the various
divisions, and a number of qualified persons serving as committee members.
The administrative board is responsible for giving guidance and approving
the operations of the Institute's various sections, thus ensuring that
it functions effectively and meets all its aims and objectives. |
